Description: This course is a study of written and visual genres that reflect how the diverse United States culture has evolved and is still evolving, and how this diverse culture includes and marginalizes various groups according to issues of race, ethnicity, class, gender, etc.

Reflection:

This course has allowed me to gain more knowledge in diverse culture regarding race, ethnicity, class, gender, etc. Many of the concepts that I have learned or gained more knowledge on, had allowed me to have a new perspective on the different matters that were discusses. The material that was learned through this course can help me have a better understanding of others around me, whether is a setting at work, school, family, friends, etc. I have learned that there are many different kinds of people who are battling something due to race, ethnicity, class, gender, etc., therefore it's important to always be kind and accepting of others.

On the Diversity Issues Reflection essay, it had made me more aware that individuals in the LGBT community are being treated unequally from those who are considered "normal" due to their gender. Since becoming more aware and educated on the subject, it has caused me to have a different outlook of the world. I have gained insight from the resources that was provided to me, research, as well as, classmate(s) that were willing to share their personal stories. Now than ever before, I'm more open minded and understanding of those who may appear "different" to others around them.
