The Crime


Al Capone was know for being a gang leader and a murder. Also involved in many crimes such as bootlegging and extortion. He even was the master mind of the "Valentine's Day Massacre". Even though he was the master mind of the "Valentines Day Massacre", Al Capone wasn't charged for the crime because he was he was in Florida when it all took place.


His first criminal conviction was in May 1929, Al Capone was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon in Philadelphia. For the crime, he was sentences for one year in jail and was released on March 1930.


In June 1931, the U.S. federal government had convicted a case against Al Capone for income tax fraud and tax evasion. He was sentenced in eleven years in jail and was fined fifty thousand dollars, charged around seven thousand for court cost and two hundred and fifteen thousand for interest due on back taxes.


After seven years, on November 16, 1939, Al Capone was released and had paid all of his fines and back taxes.
