Evidence


During this trial, there was many evidence used against Al Capone. Attorney Dwight Green started with the first opening statement, and had presented evidence against Al Capone that twenty three charges of tax evasion. Another attorney George Johnson called up Charles W. Arndt, who was a tax collector for the United States. Charles stated that Al Capone failed t file any tax returns during the years 1924-1929. Apparently Al Capone had owned a gambling hall and had received a substantial amount of profits, which gave him no excuse to not pay his taxes. Parker Henderson testified, he had said he had sold his palm island, Florida estate to Al Capone. Milton Held testified and talked about how Al Capone was betting on horse and had lost around three or four hundred dollars. Oscar Gutter had also testified about Al Capone betting on horses. He said that Al Capone had lost around sixty thousand dollars in 1927. In the end, it had shown that Al Capone had lost three hundred and twenty seven thousand dollars in six years of betting.
