Interior Design 1010: Fall 2019

Interior Design is a visual art form, but goes beyond the concepts of aesthetics and personal expression to include function and human factors in designing spaces. This course is an over view of the Interior Design profession, as well as, the theories, issues, and topics in Interior Design. It includes the study of aesthetic judgement, styles, materials, colors, and lighting.

Clients Profile Reflection

When I was first interviewing Siena, all I had were notes on the ideas of what she wanted for her office. I didn't have a clear visual in my mind of the possibilities of how her office could turn out. After taking some time going through my notes and brainstorming, I now have a clearer idea of how Siena's office should turn out, so that it could turn out to be effective for working. As well as, casual for Siena so that her office feels like her own but formal enough for a business setting to take place. When starting this interior design project, it was difficult to process but after taking time to go over things, it is now more clear and understandable.

This assignment (Final Project: Client's Presentation) has multiple concepts form each of the modules put together into this project. The progression of my knowledge is shown in this project due to it having a little bit of everything that I learned form this course. Overall, this assignment is showing all of the knowledge that I gained into this one project.

When I first started this course, I didn't know anything about interior design considering that I wasn't interested in interior design. In each module, I gained a lot of knowledge about the elements and principles of design, color, lighting, space planning and the design process, furniture construction and quality, building systems and architectural details, wall and window treatments, flooring, textiles, design styles, art and accessories, and lastly, special considerations in interior design. All of these concepts has given me a better understanding of the process of interior design and how everything connects to each other.

This course can be extremely beneficial in multiple areas in life. For example, when the time comes for me to purchase a place to live, I'll be able to use the information that I learned form this interior design course to effectively put my house together.
